Anybody Like Christian Rock?

I like quite a variety of music. Lately I've been listening to more Christian rock, especially Relient K.

Anybody else like this genre? Who are your favorites?

Man yeah, for the last 4 or 5 years that is all I have listened to. Kutless, Newsboys, dcTalk (plus all thier solo stuff) Switchfoot, Jeremy Camp, MercyMe, I could probably go all day with this.

Ever seen Switchfoot live? We saw them the end of October and I'm still in awe. I like their CDs a lot (obviously, or we wouldn't have gone to a concert) but their live performance puts their CDs to shame.

I haven't listened to Newsboys yet. I think I'll check them out.

Newsboys earlier stuff is great, they started to soften up and do the whole worship thing, which is good for other bands, but I didn't like it when other bands started changing their sounds to follow the worship trend. However, it sounds like their new cd is getting back to the rock style that made them famous.

I have never seen Switchfoot in concert but I have heard pretty much the same thing you said from many people.

I also forgot to list 2 of my all time faves, Jars of Clay and Audio Adrenaline. They both jumped on the Worship Band wagon too, and I honestly haven't paid much attention the the Christian Music Industry lately, but their early stuff just rocks.

I will listen to it on the radio but I have never bought any of the CDs. I seem to remember really liking Jars of Clay and the Newsboys back in the 90's.

Yeah, they were really good, I can't remember the albums' names, but the early stuff was great. I loved it.

I'm telling my age now, but I liked Petra and Styker when they were out. I've mellowed out in my old age. Now I like the praise and worship music more. I listen to alot of Hillsong now.

My best friend growing up was a founding member of Kutless, though he doesn't play with them anymore.

Wow! Does he play with any band? Does he have any regrets.

I have a neighbor who turned down an offer to be in a band many years ago. They ended up winning a Grammy a couple of years later.

I'm not really a listener of Christian rock. Maybe I'll check out some of the suggestions.

christian rock is good! i listen to it all the time...but a lot of bands with christians in them don't call themselves christian. oh well...i listen to relient k, switchfoot, emery, the almost, underoath, falling up, blindside, anberlin...etc. check out bands under the label "tooth and nail", and a lot of those bands are christian.

Anyway, I think Relient K. They're one of my favorite bands.

I just saw Switchfoot and Relient K live and I really liked it! I liked Relient K the most because they were so energetic and entertaining.

Does Christian rock include bands singing about their religion or bands with Christian members?

I don't think I could handle the super-religious stuff but I've heard music by Jars Of Clay before and it wasn't too bad.

man oh man I'm so into those bands. Sonic Flood too. FFH, Avalon, Newsboys, DCTalk, those are a few of my favs that I'm addicted to.

I used to be into Relient K, before they had started bridging the secular gap, but As I Lay Dying is amazing (espescially live), also into 1000 Foot Crutch and Pillar.
