I love to play all the instruments. and I think I know how to play guitar, drums, piano and so on...

You can also learn if you are committed to learning any. It's free to learn from AfricanMusicStars.com

I'm a bassist. It's tons of fun and not all that difficult to learn. Buy a used one and give it a go. You can be jamming to your favorite songs in just a couple months.

I have Bass and Piano down. I'd love to learn violin or cello, although I'm a bit hopeless at violin at the moment. Woe is me.

recently attempted (at age 23) to learn acoustic guitar and have found it rather difficult to do all the proper (basic) chords and such. even songs with two chords i find hard as i have to stop and look at what strings/frets my fingers are changing to.

Talking Re: Instrument you're dying to learn to play?

There's a guy who make really beautiful double barreled recorders here. I'd love to learn to play one of those. One of the barrels is a drone with only a couple of notes on it, the other has a bunch of holes for playing the melody. So it's a little bit like bagpipes. I'm Scottish too, but there's no way my wife is going to let me buy a set of pipes!

Right now, I can barely find time to play my guitar. Hey Wally Funk, practice changing from one chord to the next every day, every chord you know. Over, and over, and over, and over until your fingers hurt. Eventually, you get to where you can switch from one chord to the next rapidly without looking. Finger exercises are good too. Starting on your lowest string, play your first finger in the first fret, then second finger in the second fret and so on. Do this on all six strings. Then do it backwards, that is, four finger, fourth fret, sixth string, to third finger third fret and so on. Figure out more variations on this and do them all twice at the beginning of every practice session. It builds speed, strength, and the ability to switch from any finger to any other finger.

Good luck!

- Mark

That happens for a short time, but after a certain amount of time, for me it was maybe 3-4 weeks, it clicks and all of sudden you can do it standing on your head. It really is a caseo of practice make perfect.

I wanted so badly to be in a band and write my own music that I forced myself into about 4 or 5 hours practice a day just at getting the basics right when I was at Uni. Changing from chord to chord. There isn't much I can't play now, intricate lead apart. Just got to dedicate a bit of time here and there. I can play bass and guitar now, and can play very, VERY basic beats on drums.

I'd love to learn the piano too. We had one in my house for years as my mum used to teach I think, but I never played it. I can find basic chords on it, but to actually play it would need quite some time. I'm giving some thought to getting some books and teaching myself, like I did with guitar, but not sure I've got the patience and time to myself.
