Default Most moving songs?

What are some of the most moving songs you have ever heard?

I'd have to say....

Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss - Whiskey Lullaby
Sick Puppies - All The Same
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven

OK, my kids can't stand when I listen to it, but anything by Seal is very moving. My kids tell me I need to be out on a boat in the middle of the ocean to listen to that. I don't know if they mean just so they don't have to hear it, but I could see myself doing just that. It is very peaceful and tranquil. Now, I listen to all kinds of music, don't get me wrong, but when I just want peace and to be moved, that's what I listen to,

I particularly like Armageddon Movie soundtrack ' I dont wanna miss a thing'.
This is also my favourtie movie and Ben Affleck is sooo hot!Anyone agree?
The most moving song I have ever heard has got to be 'I just died in your arms tonight'.
Beautifull music!

Elvis Costello is not one of my favorites but, when I heard him sing "Still" I went out and bought the cd. I love that song. You can tell that he was absolutely in love when he wote that, and when he sings it, there is no doubt he is still head over heels.
I also find many of Evanescence's music very moving.

Hands down: Tool - Wings for Marie & 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2).

Seeing it played live was probably one of the best moments of my life. The song (or songs depending on how you look at it) is about the lead singer's mother. She suffered a stroke when he was 11 and was paralyzed. She died a couple years back. She lived paralyzed for about 27 years (right around 10,000 days). Despite what happened to her, she remained a very devout Christian.

That said... Here's the lyrics. Enjoy.

Fell at the hands of this moment so that I wouldn't see
It was you who prayed for me
So what have I done?
To be a son to an angel?
What have I done
To be worthy?

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence
Difficult to see you in this light
Please forgive this selfish question, but
What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight?
She never told a lie,
... well might have told a lie,
But never lived one.
Didn't have a life,
Didn't have a life,
But surely saved one.
So I'm alright
Now it's time for us to let you go.

Our way into the arms of the savior,
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations;
None of us have actually been there.
Not like you.

Ignorant fibbers in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me.
None of them can even hold a candle up to you.
Blinded by choices, hypocrites won't see.

But, enough about the collective Judas.
Who could deny?
You were the one who illuminated,
You'll have a piece of the divine.

And this little light of mine, the gift you passed on to me;
I'll let it shine to guide you safely on your way,
Your way home ...

Oh, what are they going to do when the lights go down
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun
Other than tremble incessantly?

High as a wave, but our eyes are upon the ground.
You were the light and the way, they'll only read about.
I only pray, Heaven knows when to lift you out.
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough,
You're going home.

You're the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fists at the gates saying:
"I have come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended!
It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my, give me my wings!"

Give me my wings!

You are the light and way, that they will only read about.

Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance,
Burden of proof tossed upon the believers.
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion:
Should you see your Maker's face tonight,
Look Him in the eye, look Him in the eye, and tell Him:
I never lived a lie, never took a life, but surely saved one.
Hallelujah, it's time for you to bring me home.

Here you go:

The Tool Page: 10,000 Days Lyrics

I did do a little editing on them though. There are some of the lyrics that are kind of "up in the air" as to exactly what's being said. I'm really not sure why because it seems pretty clear to me.

I agree about the first two songs, but don't think I've heard the other two. But, then I don't listen to the radio a whole lot anymore.

"Letters from War" by Mark Shultz - gets me every time I hear it.

Lyrics :

She runs to the mailbox
On that bright summers day
Found a letter from her son
In a war far away

He spoke of the weather
And good friends that he'd made
Said I'd been thinking 'bout dad
And the life that he had
Thats why I'm here today
And that the end he said
You are what I'm fighting for
It was the first of the letters from war

She started writing

(Chorus)
You're good and you're brave
What a father that you'll be someday
Bring him home
Bring him safe

She wrote everynight as she prayed

Late in December
A day she'll not forget
Oh her tears stained the paper
With every word that she read

It said I was up on a hill
I was out there alone
When the shots all rang out
And bombs were exploding
And thats when I saw him
He came back to me
And though he was captured
A man set me free
And that man was your son

He asked me to write to you
I told him i would oh I swore
It was the last of the letters from war

And she prayed he was living
Kept on believing and wrote every night just to say

(Chorus)
You're good and you're brave
What a father that you'll be someday
Bring him home
Bring him safe

Then two years later
Autumn leaves all around
A car pulled in the driveway
And she fell to the ground
And out stepped a captain
Where her boy used to stand

Said mom I'm following orders
From all of your letters
And I've come home again
He ran into hold her
And dropped all his bags on the floor
Holding all of her letters from war

Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home

Oh my gosh, the lyrics to those songs above could make a person lose it. I really don't have a favorite because I like so many. I love when a song hits just that right emotion. Or the ones that take you back to a certain place and time in your life.

Gosh, the lyrics typed out have given me goosebumps! I find so many songs to be emotional, especially if they are hits during a poignant part of my life.

For me, "Angel" by Sarah McLachlin is one of the most emotional songs ever. Right after one of my old boyfriends died, I heard this song every time I turned on the radio. Plus, it was played at his memorial. So, forever, this song will have deep meaning for me.

The latest one out by Christina Aguilera is powerful, also.

Duh! I can't believe I didn't mention G&R's Sweet Child 'O Mine.
I used to sing that to my kids and I would put there name in place of "child".

There are dozens of songs that can (and do!) bring tears to me. Although I hadn't heard the lyrics that were pasted here for those two songs, I can tell by the words how much of a punch they both pack!

I love almost anything by Jackson Browne. He is one of the most gifted songwriters of our generation. Pure poetry.

I would have to say right now for me it would be Far Away from Nickleback. It explains my current relationship too well it's frightening. Overall song? That would have to be Goodbye by Celine Dion. I lost my mother when I was 14.

Needle in the Hay - Elliot Smith

Jesus Don't Want me for a Sunbeam - Nirvana

Those are two that roll off the tip of my tongue.

Oh! Also, These Days - Nico
