Help on recording

I just have a question about what I need for recording my own music at home. I currently have a decent mic and amp, and am purchasing a synthesizer later today. I browsed a few sites in search of what type of hardware or software I might need, but I got somewhat mixed results.
I just want a simple and affordable way (I'm no professional musician) to record what I play or sing onto my computer so that I may edit and mix what I have into songs that I can share/upload/etc.
And like I said, I don't need anything professional, just something that will do the simple job I mentioned.
And I apologize if this type of question has already been answered, but I preferred to know the specifics.

Home recording on a PC requires some necessary things such as a computer, sound card and recording software. FlexiMusic Audio Editor works good for me. Recording is very easy and simple process. I got familiar with PC environment for new tunes, recordings and editing purpose.
