How do you find out about new Indie Bands?

Thought I'd do a poll here just to see what peoples usual sources are for finding new Indie bands.

Personally I favour scouring the internet outside of MySpace. I don't mind going to local gigs and catching some new bands but it's so limited in what you can see. On the net I can find new bands from all over the globe which is definetly my preferred method.

Last.fm has been a good source of new music for me - I've pretty much liked every band they've recommended based on my listening habits.

Most of my new music, though, comes from friends. I've got friends all over the world and I constantly bug them about what they're listening to.

epitonic.com has been my go to source for new music. Other than that I have a wonderfully eclectic group of friends who are more than happy to share their new finds with me.

I find new bands through who we play with, if you're talking about un-signed bands. Best unsigned act I've seen in a while is a band called Bleached Wail. Very good band, very tight, very solid. There are so many out there not getting picked up because the music industry has gotten lazy and predictable.

I always keep an ear out for new bands anyway though but I don't know who to trust when it comes to new bands. NME is the biggest selling music magazine in the UK but you wouldn't trust their reccomendations as far as you could throw them (not very far). The amount of utter boring and average pap they talk up as being great is amazing. The Courteeners are an example of a band that they said were the next big thing and, despite them being ok, I was severely underwhelmed by them, on a personal level anyway.

My mates can reccomend them but the last band they reccomended to me was ........................ One Night Only. Terrible, I think.

i learn about new indie music through myspace and going to shows at Hotel Cafe. I love the music they play there.

I have really started finding some interesting new indie music on ReverbNation.com - I really like that the artists themselves are able to make recommendations so that I end up noticing artists I might not otherwise notice and different artists also have access to me and what I like...I end up finding a lot of cool new artists through this site.

Generally I surf the web and look for new awesome bands.
I also have a really good friend who emails me constantly about new bandsOccasionally I'll go around town and see whats going on but it just depends.

Mostly myspace for me, but I do ocassionally go to new band nights in pubs around London and pick up a flyer from an artist that catches my attention.
