Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
I would go for the 60's, The Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Doors, etc.

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
I say the 70s. While the 60s were awesome with The Beatles, they were really the only one elite band of that decade. The 70s had the Stones, Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Ramones, just to name a few. Great era for music.

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
the present, probably because i've listened to so much more music from this decade than i have any other.
there are plenty of contemporary artists i would rank up there with the greats of other decades in terms of song writing ability and performance

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
Although I love a lot of 80s music, the present gets my vote because the internet has made music from across the world readily available and because technology has opened up a lot of new options sound-wise.

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
well i do love other decades but i will have to say the 90's was my favorite because of the individual personalitys that came with each band like sublime wasn't just one genre they feel under a couple and thats because they did what they wanted

For some reason, nobody voted for the 80s.

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
Definetly, DEFINETLY the late 60's, and the whole 70's
The beast bands off alltime; such as Led Zeppelin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Beatles, The Stones, The Doors, and Pink Floyd.
The only good thing the 80's had was IMO GNR. But its definetly 60s-70s time
ROCK ON!!

I went for 80's too. Probably more for the memories that surround the music more than the actual music itself.

I almost voted for the 70's, but there was just soooooo much bad stuff in the 70's, most of which involved Disco.

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
The 70's easily.
Mainly because the legends of the 60's were still around and the new breed of bands and styles were developing.

Re: Which Decade Had The Better Music?
The present for me. It's inspiring seeing the fusions between genres (not rap/rock) but live bands essentially creating musical scores through abnormal means that rival classical compositions. Like someone else pointed out earlier in the thread, there's also been a wide array of fantastic writers, lyricists etc. in our recent past.
Oddly enough though, more than likely my favorite band of all time came from the late 60's. The album Umma Gumma was EONS ahead of it's time. I'm sticking with present though.

Given the popularity of modern Disco (aka House, Trance and whatever other new names it's been given), I don't see how everyone can bash the original so.
I voted 70s based on a lot of factors, but the most important one is that the music was still innocent, in a way, with writers doing things that the pseudojaded listeners of today now call cheesy/sappy/lame. People were willing to express positive emotions in music dring that decade, and they didn't get ridiculed for it. Music that makes you smile is a good thing.
I'd like to teach the world to sing... like they once did, without anger, angst or faux disinterest.

No (I didn't "miss" punk- never cared for it), but the later decades missed the joyful 70s stuff. That's really what I was saying. The 70s music had it all, and since then, a lot of the joy has been missing.
I'll also point out that the 70s was the last decade where you could listen to several different styles of music on the same mainstream radio station almost anywhere you were living. After that, radio started to narrow its formats, either totally or for different time schedules.
