Rock/HardRock/Metal .. today

Whats going on in the world today?
Where are all the great bands we once knew?

I dont understand how people can be spending their money on such utter crap!

Is it over?
The age of quality hardrock and metal?
Is there no one out there left with a bit of kahunas to put out somthing that will truly blow everyone away?

I'm not saying good bands dont exist, I'm saying it feels as if they are tired and running out of songs and ideas.

If your talking about bands like metallica, iron maiden, slayer, etc. there still being listened to by alot of people, i mean i still listen to them quite often and think there great. but they havent had any new stuff for a long time now and it would be nice to hear some new music by them.

i was talking more about how that music isnt being made anymore today.
i still listen to metallica, pantera.. maiden..
its dead today.. no one realy is doing anything like it.

i find all this nu metal crap to just be repetative and kind of boring now.

just me tho.

I guess its time to cut out on the synthesized sound and fake vocals and go back to 80's...when the sh!t was pure!!!

I agree with you in a sense but the problem with music is simply the attitude of the buying public. Everyone is quick to blame record companies but a lot of it has to do with how people treat music today as well.

Older music from the 60s, 70s and 80s had less to compete with. They could write their own songs and have more creative control. Now with the whole American Idol mentality and the internet, things have become dumbed down.

I'm sure there are some great artists somewhere but they won't be able to get noticed the way things are now.

The good bands from each era always survives. Look at the 80s hair metal era. There were tons of bad bands and the good ones are still being played and listened to. Same with grunge and pop punk. It takes time for music to achieve greatness. It took Metallica three or four records until an audience beyond metalheads to listen to them.
